A fundraiser to get the NZ Roller Derby Team to the world cup raised almost $700.
Held at Meow Cafe, the day featured bands and music, massages, makeovers, raffles, and some fudge that’s legendary in derby circles.
Organiser Michelle Jackson (Perky Nah Nah) says some fudge left unsold is being hocked off to hungry workers at Archives New Zealand, where Perky works.
The money raised is going towards the NZ Roller Derby’s fund to get their team to Toronto in December.
The NZ Derby team – which needs to raise $100,000 for the trip – will be testing their skills against 12 other teams from South America, the UK and Europe, Canada, US and Australia.
